The National Academy of Sports Medicine defines a Certified Wellness Coach as a facilitator that guides and supports clients in achieving improved mental, emotional, social and physical well-being, through a holistic, comprehensive approach. I focus on nutrition, movement, sleep, recovery and mental/emotional well being. I am grateful to be a part of your journey to health and wellness.
My practice, as a certified Wellness Coach is an evidence-based approach, powhich combines the most current scientific knowledge, my experience and expertise, along with your priorities to create a synergistic collaboration. Each aspect of health is important as everything is connected. I believe health is wealth. Are you ready to improve yours?
There is so much misinformation and confusion around food. Is fat bad for you? Are fruits bad because they contain sugar? Are carbohydrates the enemy? Do you struggle with your weight? Have you tried every diet, only to end up feeling defeated when you can’t sustain it.
Funny thing, I don’t even like the word diet, as it feels temporary and restrictive. Learn about what your body needs to thrive. Lets create healthy, delicious meal plans that you will love and your body will thank you with increased energy, vitality and well being.
Movement is medicine. That is a fact! The National Academy of Sports Medicine recommends 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week or 75 min of vigorous activity to maintain one's health. It doesn't matter if you are just starting to move your body, want to resume an active, healthy lifestyle or want to elevate your health and fitness to the next level. Let's collaborate and create a step-by-step plan that focuses on improvement, not perfection. Steady, consistent progress over time is the key to success and creating the life of your dreams.
Did you know exercise increases Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor which increases neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity is the brains ability to learn, adapt or even heal from a traumatic brain injury. Exercise is the best thing you can do to increase your overall quality of life, health and wellness.
I cringe when I hear people brag about a lack of sleep as if it is a good thing and a badge of honor. "Who has time to sleep"? Do you struggle to fall a sleep or have difficulty getting back to sleep? Do you think there is not enough time in the day, so sleep is the best place to skimp? How is your sleep hygiene? Restful, rejuvenating sleep is essential for proper recovery. Sleeping is a critical piece of health and wellness and affects your physical and mental health. The National Academy of Sports Medicine recommends 7-9 hours of sleep. Do you struggle with hormonal issues. Is menopause wrecking havoc on your life? I have resources to help with that, as well.
Life can be complicated and fast-paced. It‘s easy to get stuck on the hamster wheel and slowly find yourself run down and exhausted. NASM explores Allostatic load and the fact that any and all stressors in your life are a drain on bodily resources. It also states that proper recovery is as essential to one’s health and well-being as nutrition or exercise. It’s time to stop sprinting through life and find your calm, inner strength and guidance. Cultivate a mindset of gratitude and rediscover what brings you joy. Then, watch how your life shifts. Just remember to focus on what you want and know that you are worthy

My fitness journey began after a failed attempt to hike half dome with my son on a summer vacation. I decided to turn around a few miles after Nevada Falls, as I was exhausted and I didn’t want to risk injury on the decent. Shortly thereafter, I had my annual physical and it was my catalyst for change.
I had neglected to take care of myself for many years and had gained 75 pounds. My doctor wanted to start me on a long list of medications, but I decided that it was within my power to make the lifestyle changes that would restore my health. Getting back in shape took just over a year. p I’m happy to say that 13 years later, I’m still enjoying an active healthy lifestyle.
I have had many careers in my time, but none as close to my heart as being a Wellness Coach. When my only son passed away 3.5 years ago, I was numb. I felt that I had lost my purpose for being. I embarked on a healing, spiritual journey and what I found along the way was peace, clarity and a deep understanding of myself, my gifts and inspirations.
We are all connected, but have unique lessons to learn while we are here for such a short time. I believe we are here to love and support each other along the way, which is why I created Thrive with Thomas. I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to be of service to you.
