The National Academy of Sports Medicine defines a Certified Wellness Coach as a facilitator that guides and supports clients in achieving improved mental, emotional, social and physical well-being, through a holistic, comprehensive approach. Coaches focus on nutrition, movement, sleep, recovery and mental/emotional well-being. I believe creating a healthy lifestyle, combined with nutritious food, sunshine, time in nature and with like-minded people that love and support your highest good leads to improved self-esteem and sense of wellness. One step at a time on the path to creating the life you love!
I believe there is immense power in creating a safe-space for another person. My intention is to support and empower you, while collaborating to create a personalized, step-by-step plan to manifest the life you desire. In today's world, few take the time to invest in their own well-being. I believe health is wealth. There is much wisdom in the saying, "You are what you eat". Literally! Whatever you put into your body becomes a part of you. Do you eat with the intention of fueling your body for performance? Or, do you visit the fast-food, drive-through because you don't feel you have the time? I remember going for a routine physical, when I was a teenager. My doctor was a young, athletic, approachable guy with great people skills. After I shared that I played high-school basketball, he told me that my body was a Ferrari and I should only use the best fuel, so I could perform to my full potential. I was intrinsically motivated and his words had a profound impact on my food choices going forward. That conversation happened almost fifty years ago, and I still remember the positive impact his words had on me. Learn how to fuel your body, so it can do what it wants to do, repair and regenerate.
Movement is medicine. That is a fact! The National Academy of Sports Medicine recommends 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week or 75 min of vigorous activity to maintain one's health. It doesn't matter if you are just starting to move your body, want to resume an active, healthy lifestyle or want to elevate your health and fitness to the next level. Let's collaborate and create a step-by-step plan that focuses on improvement, not perfection. Steady, consistent progress over time is the key to success and creating the life of your dreams.
Did you know exercise increases Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor which increases neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity is the brains ability to learn, adapt or even heal from a traumatic brain injury. Exercise is the best thing you can do to increase your overall quality of life, health and wellness.
I cringe when I hear people brag about a lack of sleep as if it is a good thing and a badge of honor. "Who has time to sleep"? Or, the classic, "I'll have plenty of time to sleep when I'm dead"? Do you struggle to fall a sleep or have difficulty getting back to sleep? Do you think there is not enough time in the day, so sleep is the best place to skimp? How is your sleep hygiene? Restful, rejuvenating sleep is essential for your well-being and happiness. Sleeping is a critical piece of health and wellness. National Academy of Sports Medicine recommends 7-9 hours of sleep. Do you struggle with hormonal issues. Is menopause wrecking havoc on your life? I have resources to help with that, as well.
Life can be very complicated and fast-paced. It‘s easy to get stuck on the hamster wheel and slowly find yourself run down and eventually exhausted. NASM explores Allostatic load and the fact that any and all stressors in your life are a drain on bodily resources. It also states that proper recovery is as essential to one’s health and well-being as nutrition or exercise . Most people believe that doing more is always better, but I disagree. I talk with a lot of folks at my gym and most are overtraining. I say, “train hard, but train smart”. Choose a new solution. Choose your own health and well-being. It’s time to stop running and find your calm mind. I can help you find peace in the moment and learn how to align your actions with your purpose and what truly inspires you. It’s time to stop chasing and start attracting!

Originally from New Orleans, I grew up working with my Dad in his diesel mechanic business. After high school we moved to Lake Tahoe, Ca. and my parents opened a bakery. Years later, I moved to San Francisco and worked my way up the corporate ladder. I was chasing the dollar and became obese and depressed. After a divorce and a failed attempt to hike Half Dome with my son, I had an annual physical. My weight had climbed to 265 and I was in poor health. I had a choice to make. I could either change my lifestyle or start taking meds to treat the damaging effects of an unhealthy lifestyle, Two years later, I weighed 195 and was in the best shape of my life.
I have lived a life filled with adventure, beauty and love. I have also experienced grief and loss beyond words. I want to share my knowledge, wisdom and gifts with those who are ready to start living an intentional life.
